We made the 90 minute drive from Mevagissey to Lands End and paid the £5 parking. It was a glorious day, perfect for a walk to the cliff edge and to have our picture taken against the famous Lands End sign. It cost us £15.50 for 3 copies of our picture and to have them posted to our home address.
Porthcurno truly is a natural beauty spot. The sea is a crystal clear turquoise and because it is flanked by the cliffs on either side, it is sheltered.
Our next port of call was Marazion and St Michaels Mount. Again another fabulous beach with the added bonus of having the picture postcard views of The Mount.
We arrived late afternoon and decided to head up the coastal road to find something to eat. We found a lovely little place called the Chapel Rock Cafe with views out across the water. By the time we had finished eating (around 5:15pm) the tide had gone out and the causeway was clear to cross over to St Michaels Mount. Unfortunately apart from a look in the small gift shop and a small wonder around the lower part of the island there wasn’t much else to do. Because we had arrived so late the cafe and castle were both closed for the day. However just to have experienced such a place was wonderful.
A fabulous day was finished off with a supper, back at the cottage, of cheese and biscuits and homemade scones, jam and cream. 😊
